Fashion Rio 2013 - Alexandre Herchcovitch

LIF Week 12 - Gerardo Privat

The muse of Gerardo Privat is aware of her sex-appeal and likes to show it with the garments he creates. This time for LIF Week 12, the designer enhanced the colors and fabrics that he always use that everybody recognizes, like golden, black, animal and colorful prints.

For this fall-winter he used sheer fabrics full of embellishments in dresses and paillettes for jumpers and skirts. Guipiur was developed for exquisite gowns; another texture for this collection was the velvet. There were low cut dresses in back and front as well as other completely opposite turtleneck dresses.

The accesories were: long chains necklaces , long earrings and maxi clutches in different tones of green and red.

The blouses looked more fashionable with the collar upturned and were worn with pants and skirts. The ‘80s silhouette, Privat's favorite, showed in dresses with pointy shoulders.

Privat works for the type of woman who dares to wear exuberant pieces and he knows the key to dress her without going unnoticed at anytime.

LIF Week 12 - Edward Venero

Edward Venero always seeks to represent part of the symbolism of Peru in order to accomplish a process of identification through  the garments he creates; for this runway he had for inspiration the Peruvian carnival, that is the reason of the presence of many colors: orange, yellow, red, among others, to light up the pale colors of our season fall-winter.

The elements of our patriotic shield were used in different clothes. Venero’s ability to conceive cohesive compositions of fabric designs is due to his knowledge of graphic design as a university teacher and his degree in Art at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru; this knowledge goes toward the handling of natural fabrics like alpaca and other camelids; both represent the pillars of his success.

The plus of his show was the styling, the male models wore painting on their faces, fake mustaches, party streamers around their necks and carried silver buckets.

Sweaters were developed, with braids, straps and others were similar to nets; low cut jumpers, shirts and his unmistakable looks of: shirt+bow tie+ knitted vest, pants showed new ideas in pattern making using many zippers; he also designed underwear.

Accesories were gloves and belts; footwear surprised everybody for its uniqueness in every piece: Oxford shoes and sneakers with an ‘80s vibe, both full of colors and textures.

He ended the show with his models, appearing with a fake mustache too, also wearing many party streamers. The models emptied the buckets they were carrying exhibiting lots of party streamers as a representation of a typical carnival. His runway show has become one of the favorites of LIF Week 12.

LIF Week 12 - Gerardo Privat

LIF Week 12 - Fatima Arrieta

The fashion designer was inspired by the delicate handicraft of filigree that consists on twisting metal threads into different jewelry pieces, taking Dormilonas earings as the main idea for the collection. This leads us to the use of fine textures and fabrics like silk, brocades and tulle. Embellishments had plant motifs.

Red, diagonal lines and pleated pieces were the key components of the collection. Other colors were electric and navy blue, cherry red and green. There were crossed strap dresses and backless too.

LIF Week 12 - Sitka Semsch

For LIF Week 12, Sitka Semsch presents us fabrics that we are not use to see in her work, this time the fashion designer “tried to get out of her comfort zone” as she mentioned on “Somos” magazine last weekend. Therefore, she ventured into working with tulles and sequins obtaining a very feminine collection for a woman that likes to try different textures. Neutral tones were, once again, part of the palette of work, something characteristic of her trade name.

For women, she presented turtleneck capes, blazers, light dresses and harem pants. For men, looks with capes over shirts and mid-calf jodhpur pants too.

This time, she used feather headdresses, long necklaces, bronze belt buckle belts as accessories and ankle boots for footwear.

LIF Week 12 - Sitka Semsch

LIF Week 12 - Adolfo Dominguez

LIF Week 12’s runway was opened by the spanish designer Adolfo Dominguez, the guest for this year. He showed his outfits for women and men.

His garments seemed to have a “’70s meets safari” vibe, but they were really inspired by the silhouettes of the ‘50s, being this shapes the main inspiration.  Colors such as yellow, tangerine and light-blue were part of the palette, appearing in backless dresses and low-cut dresses, shoulders were also shown. They were light and used the collar neck trend. The waist line was accentuated with thin belts and chains.

For men, the color pallete was full of neutral tones, incluiding tan, grey and lead-gray. Blue gave the accent of color, in striped t-shirts and in nehrú and sport blazers. Jumpers were part of the collection too. As for accessories, camel bags were the choice.

LIF Week 12 - Adolfo Dominguez
