Embroidery and embellishments were used in memorable dresses that got the stare of attendants and fashion critics because of its magnificence and some others because of its extravaganza.
For instance, Michelle Williams in Chanel, Cate Blanchett in Givenchy, Nicole Kidman in Dior and Rhea Durhman, Mark Wahlberg’s wife, in Naeem Khan.

Eventhough color black is always flatering, this time did not look amazing in actresses like Reese Witherspoon in Armani, Sharon Stone

In addition, there were other actresses that managed to look breathtaking like Mila Kunis in a deep cleavage, flowing chiffon and lace
Elie Saab Haute Couture dress. Moreover, others let us forget the dresses they wore at the last Golden Globe, like Michelle Williams
who had worn a beige with floral prints dress by Valentino, and Halle Berry in an lingerie-inspired dress with corset, skirt and overskirt
by Nina Ricci.

The 83rd Academy Awards: The eight gowns Anne Hathaway wore

Maybe what was really notable, were the eight gowns the hosting actress wore during the event, which were really different from each other showing from gowns made from shiny fabrics or embellishments like the one created by Tom Ford, clear tones such as the Givenchy gown, accentuated colors like the red Valentino dress, and intense ones like Armani Privé dress.

Among my favorite were the two red Valentino Couture gowns, the one she was wearing when she arrived to The Kodak Theatre and the other one she wore for the after party, I also liked the Armani Privé one, and the Oscar de La Renta metallic fringe dress the actress shaked like a Charleston dancer, that gave her fresh, radiant and youthful.

The 83rd Academy Awards I

On Sunday February 27th, 2011 the Academy Awards Ceremony number 83 was held. A ceremony that did not fulfilled everybody’s expectations, and where Natalie Portman won the Oscar in the category of “Best Actress” for her role of a deranged ballet dancer in the movie “Black Swan”, Colin Firth got the “Best Actor” award for playing of The King George VI in “The King’s Speech” which became favorite by winning the “Best Picture”, after getting the “Directing” and “Writing (Originally Screenplay)” awards.

The hosts of the last edition were actors Anne Hathaway and James Franco, who was nominated for “Best Actor” in “127 Hours”.
Many people thought their participation made the event a little fresher than before, however, I think that it did not bring anything new to the table, and that Hugh Jackman’s last year presentation was better because the song and dance performances had a noteworthy preparation. Besides, Franco's presence was hardly noticeable, however he managed to impress the audience by dressing up like Marilyn Monroe in the classic strapless pink gown from the song "Diamonds are the girls best friends" that belongs to the movie from 1949 : "Gentlemen prefer Blondes. "

Oscar 2011 : James Franco & Anne Hathaway musical

In the end, there can be experts in fashion like these personal stylists telling you what to wear in order to make you look stunning, but the thing is that no matter the trends, we stick to ourselves, and never lose our personality, the one that make us all unique, under layers of fabrics or tons of accessories, and not letting us become prey of –if you can afford it- the connoisseurs of fashion, or worse, of ourselves , wanting to attract stares and comments in order to nurture our ego and personality.

Just be true to yourselves and do not become a marionette of this enveloping world of fashion.

Top Celebrity Stylists I : Andrea Lieberman

(As we’ve read in the last post) Turning a celebrity into a fashion icon is due to the keen sense of fashion of a celebrity stylist, a visionaire and expert that can create a look and pull it off incredibly, letting a celebrity shine at a red carpet event, and even daily at the supermarket.

Among the top masters of fashion we can mention,

Andrea Lieberman, she is best known for the green Versace gown Jennifer Lopez wore at the 2000 Grammy Awards, transforming Gwen Stefani’s bright red lipstick, dark arched eyebrows and hip hop clothes into a really glamorous way of dressing; and for helping the singer create her own clothing line named L.A.M.B, Andrea also owns one, it’s called A.L.C, a brand that is chic and bold but highly functional, that you can find at Intermix. Also she collaborates with the jewelry brand Mouawad, the one which Heidi Klum and Nicole Richie have worked with too.

Manage that Look

Trying to find out what to wear every single day of your life can be most of the times a really dreadful thing. However, how easy it would be if you could hire someone to do that for you, well they are “Personal Stylists” and their job is to help people build a wardrobe.
But what happens when a celebrity needs to manage their look for an award ceremony or an avant-premiere, they need the guidance of an expert to make them look completely stunning and sometimes, if they are lucky enough not to become prey to the comments of the fashion critics, that almost never get satisfied with their garments, to make memorable a dress or suit. These experts are called “Celebrity Stylists” and they work in close proximity with famous people from Hollywood stars, models, singers to television hosts. And despite of showing their talent mostly at red carpet events, they are also responsible for their hair, makeup and clothing daily.

Among their duties: keeping track of the latest trends in fashion, choosing the most suitable clothes and accessories and purchasing them. Still, this isn’t just it, a celebrity stylist needs to create an image for a celebrity, so that she or he can make it its own, unique and distinctive. Therefore so many celebrities have become new fashion icons nowadays, such as Victoria Beckham, Nicole Richie, or Camilla Belle, stealing flashes, covers and even fashion campaigns from top models that used to be the only ones dazzle us on them.

Manage that Look
