The 20th MTV Movie Awards gala was held on June 5, 2011 at the Gibson Amphitheatre at Universal City, California, and hosted by Jason Sudeikis.

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse swept the awards, wining the most important categories, such as Best Movie, Best Female Perfomance, Best Kiss, Best Fight and Best Male Perfomance, where Robert Pattinson beated his co-star Taylor Lautner, who received a kiss from Pattinson after winning the Best Kiss award.
La Saga de Twilight: Eclipse barrió con las premiaciones, ganando las categorías más importantes, como Mejor Película, Mejor Actriz, Mejor Beso, Mejor Pelea y Mejor Actor, donde Robert Pattinson le ganó a su co-estrella Taylor Lautner, quien recibió un beso de Pattinson luego de ganar la categoría de Mejor Beso.
Uno de los momentos más importantes de la noche es el premio MTV Generation, el cual premió a Reese Whiterspoon por su exitosa carrera, después de un discurso dado por Pattinson, con palabrota incluída mientras contaba las dos veces que había trabajado con ella, una como hijo en "Vanidad" y otra como su amante en "Agua para Elefantes". Ella se burló de las celebridades que le entregaron este premio : Patrick Dempsey, Robert Pattinson y Chelsea Handler.
Fashion Trends like lace, animal prints and metallic embellishments like the Balmain dresses worn, were seen at the event. However there were many actresses that did not pick the best dresses or accesories for the ocassion.
